Description
Melanotan II (MT-II) is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide analog of alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (α-MSH) developed at the University of Arizona. It is a non-selective agonist of melanocortin receptors, particularly MC1R, MC3R, MC4R, and MC5R. Melanotan II stimulates melanogenesis (skin pigmentation) through MC1R activation on melanocytes, triggering increased eumelanin production via the cAMP/PKA/CREB/MITF signaling cascade. Beyond melanogenesis, MT-II has been studied for effects mediated through other melanocortin receptors, including appetite modulation (MC4R), sexual function (MC3R/MC4R), and anti-inflammatory signaling. Its non-selective receptor profile distinguishes it from more targeted analogs like PT-141. Research has explored its broad melanocortin pharmacology. Supplied as a lyophilized powder. For research use only.
