Description
MGF (Mechano Growth Factor) is a splice variant of Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1) that is produced in response to mechanical stress on muscle tissue. Also known as IGF-1Ec, MGF is generated through alternative splicing of the IGF-1 gene and contains a unique C-terminal E-domain peptide that distinguishes it from other IGF-1 isoforms. MGF has been studied for its role in activating satellite cells (muscle stem cells) and promoting their proliferation, which is essential for muscle repair and hypertrophy following mechanical damage. Unlike systemic IGF-1, MGF acts primarily in a local, autocrine/paracrine fashion at the site of tissue damage. Research has demonstrated its rapid upregulation following exercise or injury, and its ability to initiate the muscle repair cascade before being spliced to produce IGF-1Ea for sustained tissue remodeling. Supplied as a lyophilized powder. For research use only.
