Description
Adipotide (also known as FTPP or Prohibitin-Targeting Peptide 1) is a peptidomimetic research compound designed to target and disrupt blood supply to adipose (fat) tissue. It consists of a targeting sequence that binds to prohibitin on the surface of blood vessels supplying white adipose tissue, coupled to a pro-apoptotic peptide sequence. In preclinical models, Adipotide has been studied for its ability to selectively induce apoptosis in endothelial cells of the adipose vasculature, leading to fat cell death through ischemia. Originally developed and investigated at MD Anderson Cancer Center, this peptide represents a novel approach to adipose tissue reduction that differs fundamentally from traditional lipolytic compounds. Supplied as a lyophilized powder requiring reconstitution prior to laboratory use. For research purposes only.
