Description

HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) is a glycoprotein hormone consisting of an alpha subunit (shared with LH, FSH, and TSH) and a unique beta subunit that confers its specific biological activity. Naturally produced by trophoblast cells of the placenta during pregnancy, HCG acts primarily through the luteinizing hormone/choriogonadotropin receptor (LHCGR). Research applications include studying gonadal function, steroidogenesis, and reproductive endocrinology. HCG stimulates Leydig cell testosterone production in males and supports corpus luteum progesterone production in females. The hormone has been extensively studied in fertility research, gonadal function assessment, and reproductive biology. HCG is clinically used for ovulation induction, fertility treatment, and hypogonadism management. Supplied as a lyophilized powder. For research use only.
