Description

Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide growth hormone secretagogue (GHS) that selectively stimulates growth hormone (GH) release from the anterior pituitary gland through activation of the ghrelin/growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R). Unlike other GHS compounds, Ipamorelin is notable for its high selectivity — it stimulates GH release without significantly affecting other pituitary hormones such as ACTH, cortisol, prolactin, or FSH/LH. This selectivity makes it a cleaner pharmacological tool for studying GH-specific signaling pathways. Ipamorelin mimics the N-terminal portion of ghrelin and binds to GHS-R1a, triggering an intracellular calcium cascade that promotes GH vesicle exocytosis.
