Description
KPV is a naturally occurring tripeptide (Lys-Pro-Val) derived from the C-terminal region of alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (α-MSH). While the full-length α-MSH molecule exerts its anti-inflammatory effects primarily through melanocortin receptors (MC1R-MC5R), the KPV fragment retains potent anti-inflammatory activity through a distinct, largely melanocortin receptor-independent mechanism. Research has demonstrated that KPV can directly enter cells and interact with intracellular inflammatory signaling pathways, particularly inhibiting NF-κB nuclear translocation and reducing pro-inflammatory cytokine production. Studies have investigated KPV in models of inflammatory bowel disease, skin inflammation, and wound healing. The peptide’s small size (three amino acids) gives it excellent tissue penetration characteristics. Supplied as a lyophilized powder. For research use only.
