PEG-MGF (PEGylated Mechano Growth Factor) is a modified version of Mechano Growth Factor with an attached polyethylene glycol (PEG) moiety that significantly extends its biological half-life and stability. While unmodified MGF has a very short half-life of minutes in circulation, PEGylation protects the peptide from rapid enzymatic degradation, extending its duration of activity. PEG-MGF retains the ability to activate satellite cells and promote muscle stem cell proliferation, but the extended pharmacokinetics allow it to exert systemic effects rather than being limited to local, autocrine signaling. This makes PEG-MGF a valuable research tool for studying the effects of sustained MGF exposure on muscle biology, tissue repair, and growth factor signaling pathways.
