Description
Thymosin Alpha-1 (Tα1) is a 28-amino acid peptide naturally produced by the thymus gland that plays a critical role in immune system regulation and T-cell maturation. It was first isolated and characterized by Dr. Allan Goldstein at the George Washington University. Thymosin Alpha-1 acts as a biological response modifier, enhancing the function of dendritic cells, natural killer cells, and T-lymphocytes. It modulates immune responses through activation of toll-like receptors (TLR2, TLR9), stimulation of T-helper cell differentiation, and regulation of cytokine production. The peptide has been studied extensively in clinical research for immune modulation in viral infections (hepatitis B and C), immunodeficiency states, and as an adjunct in vaccine enhancement. Thymosin Alpha-1 is approved as a drug in over 30 countries under the brand name Zadaxin. Supplied as a lyophilized powder. For research use only.
